How tax works in StudioMomo

StudioMomo does not add sales tax to what students pay. Here is what that means and where to find the figures for your filing.

Before you start

This needs Revenue & Tax switched on. An admin turns it on in Settings, under Features.

  1. Step 1: Prices are what students pay

StudioMomo does not calculate or add sales tax, online, at the front desk, or on invoices. The price you set on a class card, membership or ticket is exactly what the student is charged.

If you owe sales tax on what you sell, include it in your prices, and ask your accountant whether you do.

  2. Step 2: Find your figures

In the admin menu: Money, then Revenue & Tax

Pick a "Period", or "Custom range" with "From" and "To (included)". The report shows three separate figures, never added together: "Received" (money in, net of refunds), "Redeemed" (the value of classes used) and "Outstanding" (classes you still owe on unused cards).

Before you file, check the "Liability roll-forward" says "This ties exactly."

  3. Step 3: Give your accountant the detail

In the admin menu: Money, then Revenue & Tax

Click "Orders CSV" or "Redemptions CSV" to download the orders or redemptions behind the figures for that period.
