  1. Step 1: Start the Stripe connection

In the admin menu: Setup & help, then Settings, then Payments

The "Stripe" card says "Not Connected" until you finish. Click "Connect with Stripe": StudioMomo creates your Stripe account and sends you to Stripe to set it up.

Have your bank details and a photo ID to hand. It takes about ten minutes, and it works on your phone.

  2. Step 2: Finish setup on Stripe's pages

Stripe asks for your business details and the bank account your money is paid into. Stripe collects your bank details itself; StudioMomo never sees them.

If you stop part way, nothing is lost. Come back to Payments and click "Continue Stripe Setup" to pick up where you left off.

  3. Step 3: Check that it is active

In the admin menu: Setup & help, then Settings, then Payments

Stripe sends you back to Payments. The badge on the "Stripe" card shows where your setup stands: "Active" means students can pay you online.

"Under review" means Stripe is checking your details. That usually clears within a few business days with nothing for you to do; click "Refresh Status" to look again. "Setup incomplete" or "Action needed" means Stripe wants something more from you: click "Continue Stripe Setup".

Under the badge, "Accept payments" and "Receive payouts to your bank" each say "Active" once Stripe has switched them on.

  4. Step 4: Manage payouts and refunds in Stripe

In the admin menu: Setup & help, then Settings, then Payments

Payouts, your transaction history and refunds live in your own Stripe dashboard: click "Open Stripe Dashboard".

There are no monthly fees or setup costs for taking payments. Stripe charges a small fee on each payment, typically 2.9% + 30¢, and the rest goes straight to your bank.
