Before you start

This needs Socials and Events & Event Ticketing switched on. An admin turns them on in Settings, under Features.

  1. Step 1: Know when to use it

The Social Desk takes card payments for a door price and records the night's takings. It issues no ticket, takes no name and fills no roster. For an event with a capacity, ticket tiers or a guest list, set up an event and use the Event Desk instead.

Read Run the door at an event
  2. Step 2: Create your door prices

In the admin menu: Schedule, then Events, then Ticket Types

Click "Add door ticket". Leave "Product Type" on "Social Ticket", fill in "Product Name" and "Price" (0 is allowed) and click "Create Product". It is listed under "Not tied to an event".

  3. Step 3: Set a default card reader

In the admin menu: Setup & help, then Settings, then Payments

The Social Desk takes card only, on your default reader. Under "Terminal Readers", add your reader with "Set as default reader" turned on.

    Read Get paid online
  4. Step 4: Take payment at the door

In the admin menu: Front desk, then Social Desk

Tap the plus button on each ticket to set how many, then tap "Send to Terminal" and have the buyer pay on the reader. "Cancel Payment" stops a payment the reader is still waiting on, and "Clear All" empties the order.

Only door tickets are listed here. A ticket for a specific event sells from the Event Desk, where it counts against the event's capacity and puts the buyer on its roster.

"Total Sales" at the top adds up the night so far. It counts from 9 PM, so before 9 PM it still includes the previous night.
