Before you start
This needs Events & Event Ticketing switched on. An admin turns it on in Settings, under Features.
Step 1: Read the worked example first
In the admin menu: Schedule, then Events
Click "How to set up an event" for a walk-through of the event form in the order it asks for things, worked on one real weekender. It is worth reading once before your first event.
Step 2: Name the event and set its dates
In the admin menu: Schedule, then Events
Click "Create Event". In "Event details", fill in "Title" and, if you like, "Description", "Instructor" and "Event image".
In "Date & time", set "First day", "Start time" and "End time". For a weekender, also set "Last day": the same hours then run each day, up to 14 days after the first. Turn on "All day" for an event with dates but no clock times.
For an event that happens on a pattern, turn on "Repeats" and choose when. You cannot turn "Repeats" on or off after saving. The dates appear on the "Upcoming" tab after the overnight run, not straight away, and the series itself is on the "Recurring" tab.
Step 3: Hold a room
In the admin menu: Schedule, then Events
"Location" is the text customers read. To actually reserve a space, pick it in "Room": the room is then marked busy for the event's hours, so rentals and classes cannot be booked over it. With "All day" on, the room is held for the whole of every day.
Step 4: Choose how tickets are sold
In the admin menu: Schedule, then Events
In "Tickets", set "Capacity", or leave it blank for no limit. Then choose "How tickets are sold".
"Free event" sells nothing. On a one-off free event, turn on "Let people say they're going" to add an "I'm going" button to the event page; each tap holds a spot on the roster.
"Door sales only (no online sales)" shows the event on your site with the "Door price (optional)" you enter, and you sell at the Event Desk on the night.
"Paid ticket (sold online)" is greyed out until Stripe is connected. Enter the "Ticket price", or click "Add another ticket type" for tiers such as a full pass and a day pass, each with its own "Name", "Price" and optional "Capacity". "Limit when this is on sale" gives one tier an early-bird window; it is not offered on a repeating event.
Read Get paid onlineStep 5: Publish it
In the admin menu: Schedule, then Events
"Visible on public schedule" is on for a new event. Turn it off to keep the event as a draft on the "Drafts" tab. Click "Create Event" to save.
Click an event's row to change it later. "Cancel event" takes it off your site and frees the room, but keeps every ticket and refunds nobody. "Delete" is refused once any ticket has been sold.
Step 6: Check what each event is selling
In the admin menu: Schedule, then Events, then Ticket Types
This screen lists each upcoming event's ticket types with how many are "Sold" and the "Seats left". They are read-only here: click "Edit in Events" to change a price or a cap.
Tickets under "Not tied to an event" are the walk-up kind sold at the Social Desk.
