Step 1: Set a default card reader
In the admin menu: Setup & help, then Settings, then Payments
Point of Sale charges your default reader. Under "Terminal Readers", add your reader with "Set as default reader" turned on.
Read Get paid onlineStep 2: Type the amount and charge it
In the admin menu: Money, then Point of Sale
Type the amount on the keypad the way a till works: 1, 2, 5, 0 is $12.50. Tap "Tickets", "Concessions" or "Donation", or type what it is for, so your sales report says what it was.
Tap the charge button and have the buyer tap their card on the reader. "Cancel" stops a payment the reader is still waiting on. A sale shows Paid only once the reader says the card went through; a declined card keeps the sale on screen so you can try again.
Step 3: Ring up several things at once
In the admin menu: Money, then Point of Sale
Tap "Add to sale" to keep a typed amount and type the next one. Your door tickets and shop items show as tiles: tap one to add it at its price.
Sales made here appear in your sales numbers, with typed amounts under "Custom amounts". No ticket is issued and nobody is added to an event's roster: for that, use the Event Desk.
