Before you start

SMS marketing is turned on by Studio Momo: ask us and we set it up with you.

  1. Step 1: Get a sending number

In the admin menu: Marketing, then SMS Marketing

Texting needs a phone number registered with the phone carriers, which StudioMomo sets up for you. Until it is, the page says "SMS Marketing isn't set up yet" and gives the address to ask.

  2. Step 2: Get subscribers

In the admin menu: Marketing, then SMS Marketing

Students sign up by texting one of your keywords to your number; set keywords and their welcome replies on the "Keywords" tab, and use "Copy share text" on "Subscribers" to tell people how. You can also "Add subscriber" by hand, but only add someone who asked to receive texts from you.

Anyone who replies STOP is opted out at once and is not texted again unless they text START to opt back in.

  3. Step 3: Send a text

In the admin menu: Marketing, then SMS Marketing

On "Campaigns", write a "New campaign", choose who gets it (a segment from the "Segments" tab), and "Save draft". "Reply STOP to unsubscribe." is added for you unless your message already mentions STOP. Send a test to your own phone, then "Send blast". Texts go at once; they cannot be scheduled.

  4. Step 4: Answer replies

In the admin menu: Marketing, then SMS Marketing

Replies arrive on the "Inbox" tab, where you can read each conversation and write back.
