Group classes

Organise your classes by style, level and program

Styles and levels let students filter your schedule and let a pass cover only some classes; programs split your site into the parts visitors shop for.

Before you start

This needs Classes switched on. An admin turns it on in Settings, under Features.

  1. Step 1: Add your styles

In the admin menu: Catalogue, then Class Types, then Styles

A style is a kind of dance, like Salsa or Hip Hop. Click "Add Style", fill in "Name", and click "Add Style". "Display Name" is what students see if it differs, and "Color" is the accent on your public schedule.

Your public schedule offers a style filter built from the styles of the classes on it.

  2. Step 2: Add your levels

In the admin menu: Catalogue, then Class Types, then Levels

Click "Add Level". "Code" is a number, like 101, and "Name" is what the level is called, like Beginner. Both are required. Click "Add Level".

Your public schedule lists your active levels, by code and name, and offers a level filter.

  3. Step 3: Give each class type its style and level

In the admin menu: Catalogue, then Class Types

Click a class type and choose its "Style" and "Level" from the lists, then click "Save Changes". A class only counts as a style when that style exists on the Styles tab: typing a style name into a class type does not create one.

  4. Step 4: Use them in a pass

In the admin menu: Catalogue, then Passes & Packages

In a class card or membership, "1. What does it open?" can be limited to some styles or levels, so a Salsa card opens only Salsa classes.

  5. Step 5: Group your site into programs

In the admin menu: Catalogue, then Passes & Packages

A program, like Kids, Adults or Weddings, groups class types, passes, appointments and events under one name. It adds filters to your prices page, your schedule and your admin lists. It never changes what a pass covers. Until you add one, your pages look the same as they do now. On Passes & Packages, click "Programs", then "New program". Fill in "Name" (the "Slug" fills itself in) and click "Add Program".

To file something under a program, choose it in the "Program" field when you edit a class type, pass, appointment type, event or shop item. Something can be in one program at a time. To file many at once, open the program and click "Add existing...": tick what belongs, from any kind, and click "File". Each row says which program it is in now, so you can see when you are moving something.

Once you have a program, chips above every product list filter it. Pick a chip, then "Add", and the new item is filed under that program.

To retire a program, switch off "Active": it leaves the filters and your public pages, and everything in it stays on sale. "Delete" removes the program itself; what was in it stays on sale, in no program.

  6. Step 6: Retire a style, level or program

In the admin menu: Catalogue, then Class Types, then Styles

A style or a level cannot be deleted while a class type uses it. Open it, switch off "Active" instead and click "Save Changes".
